About us

Librarie au Printemps was initially founded by Mr. Ahmad Islam Sulliman on 6th February 1968, which at that time was a small lending library with the main objective of sharing the passion for reading.

Almost after two decades, in the year 1989, the modest lending library was superseded by Editions Le Printemps Ltee, it was inaugurated by Sir Anerood Jugnauth, the prime minister of that time, with a vast showroom of about 10 000 sq ft.

Today ELP has grown into group of companies, namely:

  • ·        Le Printemps Bookshop, Port Louis (26,SSR Street Desforges, Port Louis)
  • ·        Le Printemps Bookshop, Curepipe (Corner Brown Sequard and Royal Road, Curepipe, OPP KFC)

Our main activities are wholesale distribution, publishing and import/export, ELP has its fully fledged publishing house, with a catalogue of more than 400 titles.

ELP is not only one of the largest suppliers of books in Mauritius but also the representative and the agent of major publishers in the UK, France, India and Singapore.

In the recent years, the company has been increasingly involved in the publishing of school text books to cater for the local market mainly. Many prominent authors have chosen ELP to publish their books due to its strong reputation, editorial expertise and marketing.

ELP plays an important role in the improvement for the quality of education in Mauritius. The company collaborates closely with the Ministry of Education (MIE) in order to provide relevant school materials to students.
